Doctor of Pharmacy

 Pharm.D (Doctor of Pharmacy) is a professional doctoral degree in pharmacy. This program trains students in the knowledge and skills needed to become a licensed pharmacist. The Pharm.D program typically takes four years to complete, and is offered by schools of pharmacy that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

The curriculum for a Pharm.D program typically includes courses in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacotherapy, pharmacy practice, and other related subjects. It also includes experiential training in various pharmacy settings such as

community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, and other specialized areas such as ambulatory care, nuclear pharmacy, and research.

In order to practice as a pharmacist, graduates of a Pharm.D program must pass a series of national and state licensure exams. Once licensed, pharmacists can work in a variety of settings, including retail pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare settings. They also can work in industry, research, or academics.

Pharm.D graduates can also pursue additional training through post-graduate residency programs, which provide additional training in specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
